Many have said it will handle a 48" fine even though the manual states 42" and 309 pounds. The weight issue is what is getting me. I have looked at a lot of cutters. Big Bee has a 42" that weighs about 310. Kodiak has a 40" that weighs 396. Most all 48" units I have seen are in the 410-450 range.

Around here I think $50-75/acre will get it cut. Cheaper than a decent used 3 point brush hog, much less a tractor, diesel, and time. The guy with the cutter mower sounds like a good one to talk to.
