Web1 feb. 2013 · My wife left washer on while out for a walk. When she got back, there was lots of white smoke and a burning smell. She unplugged it. When I got home, the smoke was gone, but the smell is like that electric motor smell. Washer had water & a pair of sneakers in it. I plugged it back in & turned dial to Spin. It did spin and it pumped the water ... WebI have a Maytag performa washer.. It is about 5 years old and has had so many problems..lets say the Maytag man isn't lonesome at my house. The gears are made of plastic so they had to be replaced. The pump had to be replaced already. Every so often it decides it doesn';t want to spin out..Have to wait a few hours and then it will work again.
